About Department of Biotechnology

Department of Biotechnology, established in 1999, contributes to the fascinating and emerging area of biotechnology by offering B.Sc. Biotechnology (Aided) and M.Sc General Biotechnology (In self finance stream). The Department strives to achieve excellence in academics by providing quality education to students and encourage them to reach the pinnacle of success. Apart from the curriculum, undergraduate students are given opportunity to take part in various certificate courses offered by the department. The laboratories, classrooms and staff rooms are well integrated and provide better interactions among staff & students. Besides pursuing their regular academic activities, students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and co-curricular activities like seminars and workshops. The department always provides support to carry out their internships in reputed research labs, which help them to face the real challenges in industry and research field. The Department has purchased sufficient number of books for setting up a departmental library to serve the immediate needs of students. The department ensures a student-centric learning environment by adopting teaching techniques like  ICT oriented classes, Each one teach one, Remedial coaching, Group discussion, Industrial visits, Assignment and seminars, Virtual lab and Wall magazine. The Department also focuses on inculcating ethical and moral values in the students. Public effectively utilises the benefit of the department through various extension and consultancy activities offered by the department. These activities also enhance the social responsibility and creativity of the students.

  • Facilitate a balanced environment of motivation, inspiration and confidence.

  • To give training to students in the latest techniques and developments of Biotechnology.

  • To train students in self-employment programmes to help them utilize their knowledge for economic benefits.

  • To promote the usage of eco-friendly products to abate environmental pollution.
