Workshop on Research Methodology ( Academic )

Department of Commerce (SF) organized a half-day workshop on Research Methodology in the College auditorium on 22nd November 2022 which was chaired by Rev. Dr. Sr. Rose Bastin, coordinator of self-financing programs, and Prof. K I Thomas, Head of the department of commerce, with resource person Dr.Vimala.P.

Research allows you to pursue your interests, learn something new, hone your problem-solving skills, and challenge yourself in new ways. Working on a faculty-initiated research project allows you to work closely with a mentor–a faculty member or other experienced researcher.

Dr. Sr. Rose Bastin, coordinator of self-financing programs, and Prof. K I Thomas, Head of the department of commerce, with resource person Dr.Vimala.P.


Ms.Bavishya performed the master of ceremonies. The resource person was welcomed to the dais by Ms.Nasla Abdul Kalam on behalf of the department mentioning the honorable remarks, their reputation, and their experience in the field.


Dr. Vimala brings with her a rich and diverse experience of 38 years of teaching at the postgraduate level. She is currently working as the Principal at Stella Maris Institute of Management and Technology, Poyya, Kodungallur. She is also a research guide at MG University and produced five PhDs. Apart from this, she has published more than two dozen research articles for various journals.


The class focused on providing the students with a better idea about their research projects. The first session was about how to select a project topic or research problem. Then she spoke about preparing the research design or plan. The proper way of carrying on the research work was explicated through examples. She also gave out certain general instructions while conducting the project. Students were diligently interacting with the resource person by clarifying doubts.


III DC BCom (SF) students were the beneficiaries of this workshop. The session was put to an end with a vote of thanks by Ms.Shahin Navas.
