International Girl Child Day celebration

INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY CELEBRATION

“Give the Girl Child, wings to Fly, let her blossom and touch the Sky.”

Girls or Women are the primary caretakers of the children and elders in every country of the world. International studies demonstrate that when the economy and political organization of a society change, young women take the lead in helping the family adjust to new realities and challenges. On 11th October 2020 “International Girl Child Day” was celebrated in our Department. In total, 90 students participated through Google Meet in the event and were told about the importance of ‘International Girl Child Day’.On International Girl Child Day, Our department organized various activities through a virtual platform to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges they face around the world. The purpose of the celebration was to increase awareness on the importance of girl education, and their health and nutrition.

During the event, our HOD, Sr.Blessy spoke about renowned personalities like Kalpana Chawla – her life’s journey as an astronaut; Kiran Bedi – the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and India’s first woman IPS officer (1972).Students were motivated towards generating awareness and taking actions to empower their peers and the community.
