Research Department of Commerce organised a Nature friendly trip to Illithodu

On 15th June 2022 Wednesday, a batch of 3rd DC students of research department of commerce of St.Joseph’s College Irinjalakuda along with the faculty members Ms Sherline T.I, Ms Jitha Thomas, Ms Rupini and Ms Remya had visited the famous tourist spot-Illithodu in Ernakulam district.
Students  reached there at 11.30 a.m. Illithodu is a scenic place with extravagant beauty located at a distance of about 10 km from Malayattoor and 62 km from Kochi.
It was a charming and picturesque place boarded by rolling mountains on one side and beautiful Periyar on the other.

Mind blown for just a moment that there is such a place with mesmerizing beauty of nature, encircled  by enchanting hills and thick forest, was there near such a huge industrial city like Ernakulam.
After having a delicious lunch, the students with the guidance of the teachers started walking through the dense rainy forest. It took 15-20 minutes to walk along through the thick forest of Teak and Mahagony trees to reach the river Periyar. Walking through the forest was really a thrilling one. A short trail through the tall trees with bird calls made it a delightful walk. The serene surrounding was enough to rejuvenate our soul. No one felt any afternoon humidity due to the presence of abundant trees. The atmosphere there was completely taking us to the freedom of blending into the nature. Swirling branches, fallen tree trunks rustling foliage made it seem like we were deep inside the forest.

After walking through the trail, following the sound of the river, we reached the entry point to the river. Swings were arranged there and the students swung and enjoyed for a while. After that we reached our ultimate destination-‘The river Periyar’. It was flowing relentlessly and the water was glittering. All the students stepped into the water, played and overwhelmed with joy. The water was cold, sharp and fresh. We waded in to the cool shallow water, placing every feet with caution. Everyone sat there for a while in the midst of peaceful surroundings watching the Periyar flowing away. Everything there was a feast to the eyes and ears-the beauty of the forest, the river, the blue sky and the chirping of the birds.
Illithodu is a great place to connect with nature, to play in the clear waters, or sit idle under the shade of the trees, watching the nature in all its glory. We spent there more than 1:30 hour and had tea and snacks.
After a well organized and memorable trip students reached back to the college at 4 pm. All the students and faculty had a nice time to spend at Illithodu.
