Accomplishment of great things require team efforts and at St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda, our streams of success speak in volume of the combined efforts put in by our well-wishers and stakeholders. The library renovation, launched in April 2020 becomes one of the best practices of the institution with its decentralised administration and participative management methods. With more emphasis on introducing and enhancing the reading experience of our students and uplifting the library as a centre of excellence, the college has invested a huge input in terms of capital, physical and intellectual means. Different sub-committees were assigned to assist the operations of the Library Advisory Board in implementing innovative strategies and beneficial guidance in structuring the essence in the mission behind the renovation of the library-
“Providing a unique work station that becomes a one stop destination for the young women to refine and develop their cognitive, personal and academical experience through a state-of-art library.”

Such well-organised phase by phase planning and preparation methods have led to adequately minimise the obstacles expected enroute to its implementation. The contribution of various associations, groups and communities has indisputably played an immense part in the realisation of this dream project. As a result, the students, scholars and the faculty now have the access to infinite number of curriculum-based books, reference articles, e-materials that can be customarily used according to their intellectual needs. Inclusion of technology has boosted the services offered from this house of wisdom in the form of Audio Lab, a digital library setting-D space, KOHA and Linways and a turnstile entrance system that provides a superior quality experience. The KIBO hardware installed has also sufficed the requirements for inclusion of aspiring blind students in the joys of reading. A theme-based library that includes a Kalam Museum, a Lakshadweep Corner, Cubicles and Discussion Halls captivate the interest and curiosity of the students inspiring them to utilise these spaces to turn on their creative imaginations and travel the distance crossing barriers of boundaries to explore the wonders of different cultures.
