National Cadet Corps
NCC, the national organization engaged in grooming the country’s youth into disciplined and patriotic citizens, has one of its all-women army units on our campus. The cadets are trained to provide leadership in all walks of life and be always available for the service of the nation. In the past years, the cadets have participated in the catastrophic floods in Kerala as part of rescue and relief teams and in turn, learned about disaster management hands-on. Our cadets have also worked in partnership with the Irinjalakuda Police Station and Kerala Police Academy to help with Traffic Control both in Irinjalakuda and Thrissur. The cadets were able to do so because of the vast training that they have received from NCC.
The NCC unit of this college has attracted national attention by setting the stage with the first visit of Subedar Major and Honarary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, the living legend and a Param Veer Chakra recipient, to Kerala and dedicated the Wall of Valour in the college to the nation with him. This was a once-in-a-lifetime event as no PVC Recipient has ever set foot in Kerala before, let alone in a college in the state.
Through NCC, the cadets have spread great awareness about the positive effects of Yoga and environmental protection. Each year depending on the needs of the community the cadets have always grown up to the task of helping the ones in need. We have many cadets who have achieved valiant achievements and have been successful nationally. Our cadets have in the past been selected for the Republic Day Parade in Delhi and many other cadets have participated in many other national camps like Youth Exchange Programme, TSC, National Integration Camp, Ek Barath Sresht Bharat etc, representing K& L Directorate and our College.
