OBC Cell

Complete inclusiveness of individuals is one of the primal factors that St. Joseph’s College strives for through a holistic educational approach. A specialised cell functions in the campus in accordance with the XI plan guidelines of the University Grants Commission for the OBC community that works towards the upliftment and grievance redressal of this community. The scope of its operation includes conducting awareness sessions, workshops, conferences and addressal of grievances that scale up the opportunities for the students by moulding them into capable and talented individuals with potential ready to compete with the competitive world of tomorrow.

Objectives of the cell

  • To ensure there is no caste based discrimination in our college.
  • To redress the grievances of OBC students.
  • To enhance the employability of OBC students.
  • To ensure equal opportunity in all spheres.

Following are the important work under OBC

  • All affairs related to OBC students.
  • To inform the OBC students regarding various scholarships program of State Government and UGC in order to motivate them for better future planning.
  • To take such follow up measures for achieving the objectives and targets laid down for the purpose by the Government of India and the UGC.

Activities

  • Orientation programs were organized to sensitize students about governmental and non-governmental scholarships
  • The students are motivated to join skill development programe ASAP
  • SSP provides academic and motivational support
  • Remedial coaching provided by departments in addition to personal counseling
  • Advanced learners help the weak students through Each one teach one programme
  • Bridge course is provided to the freshers
  • One of the healthy practices of the college is faculty @students home which provides greater bonding between faculty, students and parents
  • Special coaching class for competitive exams are provided
