Research Department of Commerce celebrated Environment Day

World environment day is the biggest international day led by United Nations Development Programme (UNEP), an environmental outreach with millions of people across the world engaging to protect the planet .In connection with this, the Research department of commerce, St.Joseph’s college, Irinjalakuda celebrated environment day on 6^th June 2022 to create an awareness among students about keeping the environment clean and safe.

The programme was started with an opening remark given by Dr .Sr. Elaiza, Principal of St.Joseph’s college by highlighting the need of protecting the environment, followed by welcome address delivered by. Jisa Johny, 3rd year class representative.

Dr. Sr. Elaiza inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling and marking the signature in the chart exhibited in the notice board prepared by 3rd DC students to show the responsibility held by each and every person in protecting the environment. Indoor plants arranged by 3rd DC students were distributed by Ms. Elizabeth Paul, HOD to class representatives of commerce department. The distribution of indoor plants in plastic bottle acted as the best example of recycling. All the faculty members and students put their signature in the chart after the programme as a symbol of making promise to protect the environment. All the notice boards near the department were decorated by 3rd DC students by including the posters, articles, newspaper reports and drawings and highlighted the need for conserving the environment. The programme come to an end by 1 pm.
