“Jewel Land”- Exhibition ( Extra Curricular )

The exhibition explores the intersection of art and fashion, demonstrating how traditional clothing and jewelry are forms of artistic expression and cultural identity.

In connection with National Fashion Day, the Department of Costume & Fashion Designing organized a captivating exhibition titled "The Clothing of Jewel Land." The event took place at the Research Block on the 13th of July 2023 and featured a stunning display of five different clothing styles of Manipur, creatively showcased using the draping technique on dress forms. The exhibition aimed to celebrate the diverse cultural heritage of Manipur while highlighting its unique clothing traditions.

The program was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Sr. Rose Bastin, Coordinator of the Self-Finance Section. Her presence and words of encouragement set the tone for the event, emphasizing the importance of celebrating and preserving the rich cultural heritage of India through such exhibitions.

The talented students of the Department of Costume & Fashion Designing showcased their expertise in creating visually captivating displays of Manipuri clothing styles. Using the draping technique, they brought to life the distinctive aesthetics and intricacies of Manipuri attire on dress forms. The highlight of the exhibition was the exquisite "Potloi costume" of Manipur, an iconic bridal attire known for its opulence and cultural significance.
