                                                      REPORT

International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. NCC cadets of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda celebrated International Day of Yoga 2021 through an online mode.
The WHO (World Health Organization) mentions yoga as a means to improve health in its global action plan on physical activity 2018-2030; more active people for a healthier world. The theme for International Day of Yoga 2021 was “Yoga for Wellness”, a motto aligned to the current preoccupations of the World.
As a part of the International Day of Yoga celebrations, the NCC cadets prepared a video on the importance of, “Surya Namaskar” also known as “The Ultimate Asana”. They explained the 12 asanas of Surya Namaskar. The cadets also posted a photo of themselves doing yoga on social media. Through this Yoga Day, the cadets reminded everyone how yoga is important in promoting both the physical and mental well-being of a person.
