Celebrated Kargil Day to honour the martyrs and a tribute to our fallen soldiers.

REPORT

The Kargil War, also referred to as ‘Operation Vijay’ was an armed conflict fought
between India and Pakistan from may to July 1999. The Indian soldiers had secured this victory after a three month conflict that led to the lay down of the lives of 527 soldiers while protecting their beloved country. The Kargil Day is to remember the Indian victory and the sacrifices of the Indian soldiers.

NCC cadets of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda celebrated Kargil
Vijay Diwas on 26th July 2023. Cadets honoured the martyrs of Kargil War. Vice
Principal Rev Dr. Sr. Eliza and ANO Captain Litty Chacko along with the NCC
cadets did floral offerings to the martyrs at Amar Jawan Smarak at 9.30 am. Every
students of the college were allowed to offer flowers to the brave hearts at Amar
Jawan. A theme show was conducted by the NCC cadets regarding the Kargil Vijay
diwas in front of the college at 3.30pm. Sticky notes were placed on Notice board
as a tribute to the fallen soldiers. A spot photography competition was held on the
same. On this day we remember the gallant efforts and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces. Posters and videos of activities were uploaded in various social media platforms like youtube, twitter, instagram, facebook etc.
