Media Literacy and Fact Checking Training programme ( Special )

St. Joseph's College (Autonomous) Irinjalakuda organised a training programme on Media Literacy and Fact Checking on 14th March 2022 in Central Seminar Hall, Golden Jubilee Research Block, in connection with Kerala Government's initiative for media literacy programme "Satyameva Jayathe" as per the government Order No:P5/48658/2021/DCET, Thiruvananthapuram dated 26/02/2022. Program's Master Trainer, Ms. Sherin Jose T, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, provided training to selected students from the UG and PG programmes, as well as faculty from all departments of the college. Modules such as understanding the changes in the Information Eco System, Information Literacy, Importance of Fact Checking, Critical Thinking are covered with the aid of related photos and videos. The programme began at 10:30 a.m. Ms. Aswathy from I B. Sc. Mathematics welcomed everyone and Sr. Blessy, Vice Principal & Head of the Department of Computer Science, facilitated in the meeting. The programme employs Quizziz software to administer fact-checking  during the training session and also administered post-training session tests. Students and faculty are both actively participated in the entire session. The training was extremely interactive and beneficial. Online tools such as Google Images, YouTube Geofind, YouTube Data Viewer Weverify Extension, and others were used in the training as part of fact checking techniques and practise exercises. The programme concluded at 12. 30 PM by soliciting audience feedback and attendance. The programme drew a total of 76 participants, including 19 faculty members and 57 students from various departments. A Whatsapp group is formed to take the training to the next level. With help of students participated, the training is expanded to all other students and faculty in the college.   A certificate has provided to every participants for attending the training programme.
