National Seminar on Breaking the Power Structures: A Quest for Roles and Identities of the Neo-Liberal Woman

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Post Graduate and Research Department of English is pleased to invite you to a Two Day National Seminar on the topic “Breaking the Power Structures: A Quest for Roles and Identities of the Neo- Liberal Woman.”  The seminar will provide a platform to explore and construct the image of the new age woman. There will be invited talks, paper presentations and a panel discussion by eminent personalities from various walks of life.

The new woman of the 21st century has definitely made long strides toward independence, authority and opportunity.  Realities for women constantly change with entry into domains formerly the preserve of men.  Economic independence of women is changing their overall equations, perspectives and outlook.  The globalised world envisages unfettered individual freedom.  The gender blind economic structures offer many an opportunity for the empowerment of women. Dismantling of the old patriarchal order ensures a neo- liberal female self and positions woman for self-transformation and renaissance.  The modern woman acts as a rational individual, exercising freewill, making choices, engaging in political, social and economic spheres, creating a space and room of her own in this brave new world.

With immense pleasure we invite you to participate in this seminar and look forward to your gracious presence.

Dr Shali Anthappan

Head of the Department
