Editorial Policy

Papers can be submitted to VISTAS at any time of the year. Only online submission through journal website or email will be considered for publication. Once the article is received, the Editor-in-Chief will screen the article for format and journal scope, originality and potential impact. Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors further evaluate the paper and assign reviewers for Internal and External Peer Review. If the article is not up to the scope and/or the standard of VISTAS, the article will be returned to the author. During the submission of research articles, corresponding author can suggest experts in the field as external reviewers. Make sure to provide complete address and official email ID of all the suggested reviews. Editorial board has the rights to selected suggested experts as external reviewer or not.

The editorial board send the paper to at least three reviewers for peer review. Time allotted for peer review process is 6 weeks and which can be extended to 8 weeks upon request for the external reviewer. Based on the peer review report, editor decide whether or not to publish the article. Overall opinion and general observations of reviewers is the key factor. External reviewers are urged to providing insight into any deficiencies in the article along with the explanation and supporting evidence. 

VISTAS publish only original research articles and reviews. All submitted manuscripts should be original works and that has neither been published fully or partially elsewhere, nor is under review elsewhere in any manner. All article will be crosschecked with plagiarism screening software before final publication. Editor assigned for an article ultimately decides whether to accept or reject the article. St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda plays no part in this decision. The editor will weigh all views and may call for a third opinion or ask the author for a revised paper before making a decision.

Publications in VISTAS protects the author rights; except to sell, distribution of the material in any form to any third party. Authors publishing in the VISTAS may use Creative Commons license for their articles. Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives license, for which no charge applies. This license allows users to download and share the article for non-commercial purposes, so long as the article is reproduced in the whole without changes, and the original authorship is acknowledged. If plagiarism is reported in any published work, appropriate action will be taken to remove article from the journal's website.
