Research department of commerce organised demo day on 17, 18 November 2023

On 18th November 2023, Research Department of Commerce organized a Demo Day to showcase various commerce models and games. The event aimed to provide students and participants with an opportunity to understand different aspects of commerce and enhance their knowledge and skills. Several models and games were presented, each with its unique significance and relevance in the field of commerce. Students from different colleges and higher secondary schools visited the stalls and participated in the games.


A brief description of the commerce models is given below:


1. Fish Bone Diagram:

The Fish Bone Diagram model focused on identifying and analyzing the causes of a particular issue within the business context. It demonstrated the importance of problem-solving and critical thinking skills in addressing challenges effectively.


2. Mobile Banking App:

The Mobile Banking App model displayed a practical and efficient way to manage banking transactions through mobile devices. It emphasized the increasing significance of technology in the financial sector and showcased the convenience and security offered by mobile banking apps.


3. Evolution of Money:

The Evolution of Money model traced the historical development of various forms of currency and highlighted the transformation of money from barter to digital currencies. It provided an insight into the evolving nature of commerce and monetary systems.


4. Women CEO:

The Women CEO model shed light on the presence and significance of women in leadership positions in the corporate world. It showcased successful women CEOs and aimed to inspire participants to break barriers and promote gender equality in commerce.


5. CSR Practices:

The CSR Practices model focused on the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility. It displayed various initiatives taken by companies to contribute positively to society and highlighted the role of ethical business practices in commerce.


6. Supply Chain Management:

The Supply Chain Management model demonstrated the efficient management of the flow of goods and services from the production stage to the final consumer. It emphasized the significance of effective coordination and logistics in optimizing business operations.


7. Management Thinkers:

The Management Thinkers model highlighted the contributions and theories put forth by influential management thinkers such as Peter Drucker, Frederick Taylor, and Henri Fayol. It emphasized the evolution of management practices and their impact on commerce.


8. Five Heads of Income:

The Five Heads of Income model showcased the different sources of income recognized by the income tax laws, namely salary, house property, business/profession, capital gains, and other sources. It aimed to enhance participants' understanding of income tax regulations and financial management.


Games:


1. Identify the Brand:

The Identify the Brand game challenged participants to recognize and associate famous brands with their respective logos or slogans. It tested the participants' knowledge of market presence and brand recognition in the commerce industry.


2. Make 10 Commerce Words:

The Make 10 Commerce Words game stimulated participants to generate ten words related to commerce within a specified time frame. It aimed to develop participants' vocabulary and familiarity with commerce terminology.


3. Identify the Advertisement:

The Identify the Advertisement game presented participants with snippets from popular advertisements and challenged them to identify the brand or product being advertised. It tested participants' advertising awareness and brand recall skills.



The Demo Day organized by the Department of Commerce provided a comprehensive overview of various commerce models and games. It offered participants a holistic understanding of different aspects of commerce, including problem-solving techniques, technological advancements, gender equality, ethical business practices, supply chain management, influential management thinkers, income tax regulations, and the importance of marketing and brand recognition. The event successfully engaged participants and contributed to their overall knowledge enhancement in the field of commerce.
