Department observed World Consumer Rights Day

World consumer rights day is marked every year on March 15. This day was inspired by President John F Kennedy, who sent a special message to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so. The consumer movement first marked that date in 1983 and now uses the day every year to mobilise action on important issues and campaigns.

This day is observed in order to raise awareness about consumer rights and promote consumer protection. The theme of world consumer rights day 2023 is empowering consumers through clean energy transitions. The theme of this year aims to raise awareness of consumer empowerment and push their role for a faster clean energy transition. The reason that we celebrate consumer’s day in India is to make people aware of their rights and consumers to avoid getting exploited. Consumers have the right to be free of hazardous goods and services that jeopardize their lives and property.

A mobile quiz was conducted in the college on 15th March on the occasion of consumers right day .The questions were prepared in the business lab and it was related to the consumers right. Questions were asked to students of different classes in their own class. The Winners were appreciated and prizes were given by the Research Department of Commerce.
